BELLTOWN PROFILE : BELLTOWN DOG | AKA DOLPH

His name actually is Dolph Lion Heart. He is a Norwegian Elkhound and you will see him several times a day tooling up and down the northern portion of 2nd Avenue with his side-kick Loki The Dog [a Golden Retriever] and some blonde chick on the end of a leash behind him.

For short he goes by Dolph. On more formal occassions, Dolph the Dog.

He has lived in Belltown 2 1/2 years. Mutiply that by 7 and that's a lot in dog years: 17. But Dolph is 12 so in the grand scheme of things maybe not too long.

"Dolph Shades II" 2001

"Can I have a biscuit?," he asks.

"Hell no," I reply. "You're on a diet."

"Dolph Shades III" 2001

"Then what is the point of this interview?," he asks. He is a savvy dog. He knows any good interview is worth a biscuit. But I have been warned he will try this so I stay frosty.

Dolph was born in California. He has made six interstate moves. The last landed him smack in Downtown Seattle. In Belltown. Which he likes.

And I won't give him a bicuit.
